School building to rise on former Dolphy property
MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City government said a high school building will rise on a property formerly owned by comedy king Dolphy.
The local government bought the 4,238-square meter lot for P13.5 million last April. Aldrin Cuna, chief of staff of Mayor Herbert Bautista, said Dolphy’s partner, singer-actress Zsa Zsa Padilla, had a talk with the mayor that led to the city government buying the property.
“That was the time Dolphy became sickly and has been going in and out of the hospital already,” Cuna said in an interview.
Cuna said that if Dolphy is declared a national artist, the school will be named after him, and a monument to honor him will also be constructed at the site.
