Man kills wife, son, then self

MANILA, Philippines - A businessman hammered his wife and eight-year-old son to death before committing suicide in Tondo, Manila yesterday allegedly over financial problems.

Senior Inspector Joy de Ocampo, Manila Police District-homicide section chief, identified the fatalities as Nelson Cruzat, 38, his wife Cecille, 30, and their son Christian Mark.

They were discovered lifeless by Cecille’s mother inside their house in San Nicolas street, Barangay 251, Zone 33.

Police said Cruzat shot himself using a 9mm caliber handgun.

The hammer he used in killing his wife and son was recovered by investigators in the crime scene.

Reports said that Cruzat, who was a jeweler at the Aranque market, was having trouble with his finances.
