Manila barangay tanod stabbed dead

MANILA, Philippines - A barangay tanod was stabbed dead by a man he accosted for stealing iron grills at a vacant lot along Aurora Boulevard in Blumentritt, Manila yesterday.

Police Officer 3 Amelito Lopez said Roman Meneses, 46, of Barangay 376, Zone 8, saw a certain Joey Suzon stealing the iron grills and confronted him. 

Sensing that Suzon was determined to fight over his “find,” the victim turned around and headed home. However, the suspect followed him and stabbed him several times, according to Lopez. Meneses ran and tried to seek refuge in the AM Alfonso Battery Center, but was eventually overwhelmed by the suspect and stabbed repeatedly.

The victim was pronounced dead on arrival at the Chinese General Hospital, while Suzon fled on foot and is the subject of a police manhunt.
