Manila, Philippines - Three men were arrested following a car chase when they refused to be accosted by police officers in Quezon City Friday afternoon.
Arvin Condenuevo, 36; Nilo Victorino, 46; and Eumir Angeles, 35, yielded a sachet of shabu and a tooter when police officers finally cornered them at a gas station at the corner of Visayas Avenue and Fisheries Drive in Barangay Vasra at past 4 p.m.
Senior Police Officer 1 Gregorio Maramag said police officers of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 2 first spotted the suspects in their white Isuzu Crosswind parked in front of the New Era Elementary School along Tandang Sora Avenue.
When policemen moved to check on the Crosswind, the suspects drove off, prompting them to give chase.
The suspects even drove against the flow of traffic along Congressional and Visayas Avenues. The police officers managed to overtake the Crosswind along Visayas Avenue, but the suspects rammed the police car. They stopped in front of the gasoline station.
Using a public address system, the policemen told the suspects to get out of the Crosswind. When they refused to obey, the police officers called for backup. Members of the QCPD’s Special Weapons and Tactics team broke the rear window of the Crosswind to force the suspects out of the vehicle.
