CBCP to tackle Calungsod canonization
Manila, Philippines - The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) may discuss the upcoming canonization of Blessed Pedro Calungsod this October in Rome during the 105th plenary assembly today.
During the plenary assembly, which takes place twice a year, the bishops primarily listen to the reports of the various CBCP commissions and offices and tackle other issues. It will be held at the Pope Pius XII Catholic Center in Paco, Manila.
However, up until press time yesterday afternoon the 14 members of the CBCP Permanent Council have not yet drafted what would be considered as “other issues.”
CBCP president Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma said in an earlier interview that the council finalizes the agenda, but noted that Calungsod’s canonization could be one of the matters under discussion.
