Cops release images of Pasig mall robbers

- Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

Manila, Philippines - The Eastern Police District (EPD) asked the public yesterday to help identify the men who staged the P550,000 Robinson’s East mall robbery in Pasig City on June 22.

The EPD released images of the robbers caught by the mall’s surveillance cameras, even though their faces are “blurred” since the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) failed to enhance them.

“We have not identified them as yet because their pictures were not clear. But the public could help us in unmasking their identities through the clothes they wore at the time of the robbery,” EPD director Chief Superintendent Miguel Laurel said in an interview.

There are reports that the robbers are the same ones who staged the P14-million robbery at a moneychanger shop at the Robinson’s Galleria in Quezon City on March 29, the foiled robbery at the Alabang Town Center in Muntinlupa City and the mall robbery at Dasmariñas, Cavite but Laurel pointed out that they are checking if the reports are true.

Laurel said the public could reach Superintendent Rannie Tapat, head of the EPD Special Operations Unit (SOU), on his cell phone number 0916-7312168 or the PNP Txt 2920 if they can identify the suspects.

“We assure them of their utmost confidentiality and there will be no questions asked,” he said.

The video footage showed two of the suspects wearing caps to hide their faces, while the three others have their hair brushed up and wore sunglasses.
