MMDA to deploy nurses, paramedics in accident-prone areas

- Mike Frialde - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said yesterday it will deploy 23 new paramedics and nurses it will hire to 14 accident-prone areas in Metro Manila.

MMDA spokesperson Maria Luwalhati Dorotan said that as of yesterday, the MMDA has received 100 applications. She said the MMDA would make its selection on Thursday.

Dorotan said jobseekers can still send their credentials to the MMDA and apply for the job. Applicants must not be older than 35, and must have knowledge or experience in emergency health care.

“Those who have graduated from nursing schools but have not yet been licensed, can apply. We will provide them with training, particularly in the handling of emergency cases,” she said.

Dorotan said the MMDA will pay successful candidates according to their experience, with licensed nurses expected to get more.

According to Dorotan, the MMDA’s Road Emergency Response Unit, to which the newly hired nurses and paramedics will be going, has a high turnover rate as compared to other MMDA units.

According to Dorotan, the newly hired paramedics and nurses will be deployed to mobile field emergency units to 14 accident hotspots, which include EDSA, C-5 Road and Santolan Road.
