3 dead in Quezon City road mishaps

MANILA, Philippines - Three persons were killed in two separate vehicular accidents in Quezon City at dawn yesterday.

Syriel Gupa, 27, conductor of Cher bus with license plate TWU-291, died instantly after he was crushed by the bus which overturned at the southbound lane of EDSA flyover in Quezon Avenue at 2 a.m.

Bus driver Anastacio Pulan, 60, told traffic investigators that he tried to avoid another vehicle but hit the railing of the flyover before the bus rolled over.

In another accident, Michael Angelo Sy and his unidentified companion died after the Honda Civic (TER-520) they were riding crashed into the parking lot of the Bank of the Philippine Island (BPI) branch in Barangay West Triangle at 3 a.m.

Rescuers from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) rushed the victims to the East Avenue Medical Center but they were declared dead on arrival.

The unidentified fatality was described to be in his late 20s, 5’6” in height, fair skinned, medium built.
