Woman killed, son hurt in shooting

MANILA, Philippines - An unidentified man shot dead a woman who had just fetched her five-year-old son from a daycare center in Tondo, Manila yesterday morning.

Gina Castillo was walking home with her son at around 10:50 a.m. along La Suerte street when a man approached them and shot Castillo, hitting her in the chest and chin. She died on the spot.

Her son was hurt when one of the bullets grazed his left hand.

Witnesses told police that as soon as Castillo fell, her killer casually walked away.
