Manila, Philippines - Police arrested yesterday two drug pushers who yielded 1.5 kilos of shabu worth P8 million in a buy-bust operation some 30 meters away from the Pasig City Hall building.
Eastern Police District (EPD) director Chief Superintendent Miguel Laurel said they are verifying reports that suspects Theng Baguindang Musa and Nasser Guiabad Piang were former workers of shabu flea market operator Amin Imam Boratong, who was sentenced to life imprisonment along with his wife Sheryl Molera.
“We have no direct evidence yet linking Musa and Piang to the shabu tiangge,” said Laurel.
Superintendent Remus Medina, EPD intelligence chief, said an informant surfaced three weeks ago and claimed that Musa and Piang were responsible for the proliferation of shabu in several barangays in the city.
Medina said the police asset arranged the sale of five grams of shabu for P18,000 along F. Manalo street in Barangay San Nicolas at 10:30 a.m.
He said Musa and Piang were nabbed after receiving the marked money from a poseur-buyer.
When members of the EPD Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (AIDSOTF) searched the suspects’ Toyota Revo (XJK-864), they found a blue bag containing 1.5 kilos of shabu.
“The information we received is that Musa and Piang are only small-time drug peddlers. We are surprised to find the large quantity of shabu in their vehicle,” said Medina.
He said Musa and Piang operate near the shabu tiangge in Mapayapa compound, Barangay Sto. Tomas smashed by AIDSOTF operatives in 2006.
