NTC, Globe dismantle illegal repeater

- The Philippine Star

Manila, Philippines -  The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and Globe Telecom took down an illegally installed repeater in San Andres Bukid, Manila which had been identified as the main cause of network interference in the area.

The NTC issued a cease and desist order to compel Lina Gladys Castillo, alleged owner of the repeater, to dismantle the illegal equipment.

Castillo allegedly ignored a show cause order and notice to explain issued by the NTC last June 1. She faces charges of violating the Radio Control Law and NTC Memorandum Circular 2-05-88, which regulate and restrict the manufacture, sale, acquisition, operation and use of radio communications equipment.

Illegal repeaters are indoor or outdoor antennas and wireless adapters meant to boost signal in a household or building.
