Amalia sues Annabelle for libel
MANILA, Philippines - It’s Amalia Fuentes versus Annabelle Rama this time.
The actress yesterday filed a libel complaint against Rama and television host Bianca Gonzales for issuing malicious statements against her.
Fuentes charged Rama with 11 counts of libel for calling her names on the microblogging site Twitter.
Meanwhile, Gonzales was slapped with one count of libel for an article that appeared in The Star last February, which was based on an interview with Rama.
Rama supposedly claimed that Fuentes was going after her husband, actor Eddie Gutierrez.
She also accused Fuentes of having an affair with Gutierrez.
Rama also allegedly claimed on Twitter that Fuentes was a live-in partner of Joey Stevens, when in fact the two were married.
Meanwhile, a Quezon City court has denied the appeal of Rama to postpone her arraignment for 90 days in connection with the 14 counts of libel filed against her by former actress Nadia Montenegro.
Judge Eleuterio Bathan junked Rama’s pleading to reset her arraignment to Sept. 10.
Bathan had earlier issued a warrant for Rama’s arrest for her failure to attend court hearings and her scheduled arraignment last Monday.
The talent manager had asked for the postponement of her arraignment, citing a pending appeal on her indictment before the prosecutor’s office.
The charges against Rama stemmed from her allegedly malicious remarks on Twitter and in TV interviews against Montenegro.
Rama was former manager of Montenegro’s two teenaged daughters.
