Manhunt on for Manila cop tagged in robbery
MANILA, Philippines - A Manila policeman is being hunted down for robbing a businesswoman and her family in Manila last May 31, an official said yesterday.
Senior Superintendent Robert Po, deputy district director for operations of the Manila Police District (MPD), said Police Officer 3 Guillermo Malindog has not reported for work since the robbery.
“PO3 Malindog is now the subject of a massive police manhunt to make him answer for his misdeeds,” said Po.
Malindog was identified by victims Marc Bagui, Shentai Bagui and Patricia Velzy as among the armed men who entered their house in Sta. Ana and took their cash, jewelry and important personal belongings last May 31.
Po also ordered the arrest of PO1 Robert Cruz, of the Sta. Ana police station, after the victims identified him as among those who robbed them. They saw him when they went to the police station to report the robbery.
Also arrested while manning traffic along Pasig-Line street in Sta. Ana, was Regente Osalla, the barangay ex-officio officer, who denied his role in the robbery. However, police raiders recovered from Osalla was a pouch bag containing personal items owned by Velzy.
Po ordered the filing of robbery in band and violation of Republic Act 7610, which penalizes violence against women and children, against the suspects before the Manila prosecutor’s office.
