Quezon City government to build new Hall of Justice

MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City government is building a new Hall of Justice to ensure the speedy dispensation of justice, especially for the poor.

The P98.4-million, six-story Department of Justice (DOJ) building will rise beside the old QC Hall of Justice at the city hall grounds. It will be completed by the end of the year.

Mayor Herbert Bautista said the building will house the Office of the City Prosecutor, Public Attorney’s Office, Parole and Probation Office, Mediation Office and the Office of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-QC chapter.

“The new building will provide a more spacious area for our prosecutors that will enable them to effectively respond to the needs of our constituents,” he said.

Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte and City Prosecutor Donald Lee joined Bautista during the groundbreaking ceremony held recently.

The city officials said providing support to the judiciary has always been a priority of the QC government.

The mayor recently unveiled the P2-million document tracking system designed to expedite the docketing of cases filed before the Clerk of Court of the QC regional trial court (RTC).

To set up the system, the city has acquired 16 new computer units, two scanners and printers to help transfer the manual records of the RTC Clerk of Court into a new system database for easy retrieval of trial court records and documents.

The city government also plans to adopt the system in the Metropolitan Trial Court.
