Thieves target 2 Koreans in restaurant
MANILA, Philippines - Two Korean tourists lost P25,000 worth of valuables at a fastfood restaurant in Manila Monday morning.
Lee Seung Hyun, 22, and Jang Chang, 23, filed a complaint with the Manila Police District’s General Assignment Section (MPD-GAS). The two are staying at a dormitory in Intramuros.
Senior Police Officer 2 Pedro Flores said Lee and Jang had an early lunch at the restaurant, which is near the dormitory where they are staying.
They said as they were having lunch, a man stood beside their table, blocking their view of their bag. They said the man’s two female companions apparently took the bag and hurriedly left the restaurant.
The Koreans said when the three thieves left, they noticed their bag – which contained an electronic dictionary worth P13,000 and a P12,000 smartphone – was missing.
Investigators are examining footage taken by the restaurant’s surveillance camera in order to identify the thieves.
