3 kids die in accidental electrocution

- Non Alquitran -

MANILA, Philippines - Three children were electrocuted after touching a metal clothesline while playing at the height of heavy rains along Nanirahan street in Mandaluyong City Monday.

Eight-year-old Mark Angelo Sastelo and Luningning Rosas, 14, died while being rushed to the Sta. Ana Hospital in Manila while Raul Leyva, nine, was declared dead on arrival at the Mandaluyong City Medical Center.

Eastern Police District director Chief Superintendent Miguel Laurel said the Mandaluyong City police are gathering evidence to charge Marcelina Manikdao, 54, of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide.

Manikdao is the owner of the metal clothesline, which had been attached to a live power cable, said Laurel.

Senior Superintendent Armando Bolalin, Mandaluyong police chief, said they are presently investigating how the clothesline was linked to a power cable. He said their findings would help them file charges against those responsible for the three children’s deaths.
