Water line leak causes 15-foot fountain

- Sandy Araneta -

Manila, Philippines -  Workers at a government road widening project in Sampaloc, Manila damaged a water line before dawn yesterday, causing a 15-foot “fountain” that lasted around five hours.

The workers, who damaged a pipe at the intersection of Fajardo and A.H. Lacson streets, said the line was not included in the blueprint given to them.

Aside from widening the road, they were also moving electric posts in the area.

According to officials of Barangay 431 in Zone 44, nearby barangays had either lower water pressure or no water supply for a few hours following the leak.

Barangay councilman Emil Mijares said it would take some time to fix the damaged pipe, according to ABS-CBN.
