Man nabbed for harassing passerby

- Pete Laude -

Manila, Philippines -  A neighborhood toughie arrested by village watchmen before dawn yesterday in Caloocan City for harassing a passerby turned out to be a suspect in a murder case.

Police Officer 2 Ramil Bautista said Helario Guevarra, 33, a resident of Grace Park in Caloocan, is the subject of a warrant of arrest for the killing of Joel Pilasol last Feb. 4.

Bautista said village watchmen Jorge Dalia and Jun-Jun Pobia apprehended Guevarra along Cordero street in Barangay 44 after he reportedly chased a passerby with a knife at around 3 a.m.

They confiscated his knife and turned him over to the police, where they found out about the warrant. According to the watchmen, Guevarra went into hiding after the incident but resurfaced only recently.

They told police that Guevarra often harasses people passing through the neighborhood when he is drunk.
