After Annabelle, Amalia takes on Ruffa
MANILA, Philippines - Veteran actress Amalia Fuentes filed libel charges yesterday against host and former beauty queen Ruffa Gutierrez over “tweets” that Fuentes said “injured” her “reputation and integrity.”
Fuentes and Gutierrez’s mother, Annabelle Rama, engaged in a word war earlier this year.
Fuentes filed the charges against Gutierrez and writer Allan Diones and the editorial staff of the tabloid Abante (Allen Macasaet, Nicolas Quijano Jr., Janet Bay, Jesus Galang, Randy Hagos, Jeany Lacorte, Ron Tamayo, Jorge Punzalan, and Lino Minor).
According to Fuentes, Gutierrez claimed in her “tweets” that she invented “false stories about” her and her family. The tweets then became the subject of an article written by Diones that came out in Abante.
Fuentes also said Gutierrez claimed during a press conference that she had alleged that Gutierrez’s daughter had a twin sister but the baby had been sold.
“Although the tweets of Ruffa Gutierrez did not mention any name, clearly from her interview and from the article of Allan Diones, it can be deduced that she was referring to the complainant,” Fuentes said in her complaint.
