2 cops, ex-Marine charged for Pasig market heist
MANILA, Philippines - Two rookie policemen and a former Marine were charged yesterday with robbery with multiple murder and frustrated murder for killing three people and wounding another during a robbery at a public market in Pasig City last Saturday.
Charged before the Pasig City prosecutor’s office were Police Officers 1 Noel Breboneria and Jason Afos and ex-Marine Rey Rufino.
Rufino was arrested hours after the robbery, in which the suspects shot dead traders Ruel Malimban and Juanito Molina and traffic enforcer, Jonathan Mariano. The suspects also wounded helper Gibson Urban.
Eastern Police District (EPD) director Chief Superintendent Miguel Laurel said Breboneria and Afos, both assigned at the Headquarters Support Service in Camp Crame, went into hiding after the robbery.
Laurel said police officers recovered from Rufino P112,000 stolen from the traders and a .45 caliber automatic pistol the suspect may have used in the robbery.
