MANILA, Philippines - Two housepainters playing basketball at a neighborhood hardcourt were beaten up by two drunk neighbors in Barangay 18, Caloocan City yesterday.
Alvin Sison, 25, and Jayson Adriano, 24, said that at around 1:45 p.m., while they were on the way to the basketball court, they saw Joel de los Santos and Edgar Gutierrez drinking by the side of the road in Libis Nadurata.
They said they proceeded to the covered court but 15 minutes into their game, De los Santos and Gutierrez arrived and attacked them without provocation.
Sison said De los Santos – allegedly a police officer – held a gun against his neck during the scuffle. Sison said he was able to break free and run to the barangay hall for refuge.
He and Adriano, still sporting bruises and scratches from the encounter, reported the incident at the nearest police station.
