Burger joint worker shot in Malabon

MANILA, Philippines - A man who works as part of a burger joint’s service crew was shot by one of four unidentified men in Malabon City before dawn yesterday.

Emiliano Santos, 25, suffered a gunshot wound in the back and is confined at the MCU Hospital, Police Officer 3 Jerry de la Torre said.

Santos’ co-worker, Benjamin Chua, told investigators they were on their way home at 2:30 a.m. when the attack happened along Gov. Pascual Avenue.

Chua said he was driving his motorcycle, with Santos riding piggyback, when the four men accosted them. The men allegedly asked if they were police officers. When Chua and Santos said they were not, one of the men shot Santos with a handgun.

As soon as he heard the shot, Chua revved up and sped away from the scene and took his wounded friend to the nearest hospital.
