DENR to fund seedling nursery

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) said yetterday it will fund the construction of a nursery facility for seedlings worth P3.8 million to be used to boost the National Greening Program (NGP).

DENR Secretary Ramon Paje also committed an additional P8 million for its initial operation this year. “Once completed, the 67,000-capacity clonal nursery currently under construction on the grounds of the Department of Science and Technology office in Bicutan, Taguig, will help boost the NGP,” Paje said.

He added that the first batch of seedlings that would be produced by the nursery will be used to green Metro Manila.
