3 hurt as restaurant's gas pipeline explodes

MANILA, Philippines - Three workers were injured when a gas pipeline of a Pasig City restaurant reportedly exploded at past midnight yesterday.

Terry Roxas, Ramil Mamato and Aldrin Talaala suffered burns on different parts of the body when the gas pipeline at the Big Bird Chicken Inasal restaurant blew up at around 12:45 a.m., city police officer-in-charge Superintendent Alfredo Calamaan said.

Investigators are looking into the possibility that one of the workers may have thrown a lit cigarette butt near the pipeline. They are also asking why the workers were still in the restaurant at the time.

The restaurant’s owners have not yet coordinated with the police as of yesterday afternoon.
