Chinoy couple, slain in rob try

- Jerry Botial -

MANILA, Philippines - A Filipino-Chinese couple was killed when they resisted a robbery attempt by a lone suspect who barged into their house in Caloocan City on Monday night.

Superintendent Carlito Dimalanta, Bagong Silang police commander, identified the victims as Lim Qing Kai and his wife Chen Xiu Yu, owners of U2 Mart and general merchandise store.

The unidentified suspect, who took hostage the couple’s three-year-old son, was killed after he shot it out with responding policemen.

Case officer SPO4 Dicoroso Domingo said the robber broke into the couple’s house and demanded the store’s earnings but the victims refused, prompting the suspect to stab them.

Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered a knife and bloodstained hammer from the crime scene.
