Oil truck hits motorbike, car; 1 dead, 2 hurt

- Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo -

MANILA, Philippines - An oil truck collided with a motorcycle and another car in Sta. Ana, Manila yesterday morning, killing the motorcycle rider and injuring two others.

The oil truck, with plate number RFH-744, was on Lambingan bridge when the mishap occurred at around 10 a.m.

The motorcycle rider, who has yet to be identified, was killed in the crash. The car driver and his passengers – also unidentified – sustained injuries.

Residents panicked over the possibility of an explosion when they found out the driver, who fled after the incident, left the truck’s engine turned on.

Bystanders said the truck driver might have lost control of the vehicle after its brakes failed. The truck also rammed a hardware store, but no one in the shop was hurt.
