Exec seen stealing P.2 M from restaurant

MANILA, Philippines - A training manager of a branch of the Savory restaurant at SM San Lazaro was arrested at his house Monday after he was caught on video stealing P251,000 from the cash drawer Sunday.

Darwin Verdera, 35, who is being held at the Manila Police District headquarters, denied stealing the money. Investigators said the money he allegedly stole could not be found.

The loss was discovered at around 10 a.m. on Monday by Edgardo Malabarbas, morning shift team leader, who reported the incident to area manager Ellen Zaldivia.
