1 dead, 3 hurt in Malabon wake shooting

MANILA, Philippines - A 55-year-old woman died while three others were wounded when five unidentified armed men fired at a wake Tuesday night in Malabon City.

PO3 Jerry dela Torre said Lourdes Silvano, a resident of Barangay Tugatog, died from a gunshot wound in the head.

De la Torre said that Silvano was watching a group of men playing card games at a wake on Plata street in Barangay Tugatog when the suspects opened fire for still unknown reason at around 7:45 p.m.

Stray bullets hit Christopher Vasquez, Carla Hagad and a certain Inday.

Vasquez suffered a bullet wound in the abdomen and was confined at the Manila Central University Hospital. Hagad was hit in the stomach and brought to Dr. Jose Reyes Hospital.

The third victim,who was not hospitalized, suffered minor injuries.

Witnesses told police that the gunmen fled toward the squatters’ colony in Barangay Catmon after the shooting.

The Malabon City police is investigating the incident.
