QC demarcates central business district
MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City government has identified specific areas in the city to comprise what it refers to as the city’s central business district (CBD).
The city council has passed on third and final reading the ordinance classifying the 250.6-hectare area of North Triangle, East Triangle and Veterans Memorial Hospital compound as the city’s CBD.
The ordinance – introduced by Councilors Julian Coseteng, Precious Hipolito-Castelo, Allan Benedict Reyes, and Eufemio Lagumbay and co-introduced by Gian Carlo Sotto, Anthony Peter Crisologo and Ricardo Belmonte Jr. – is expected to boost the city’s reputation and growth, which eventually will contribute to its overall economic development.
They said the passage of the ordinance will also pave the way for the adoption of the CBD master plan, which will provide a mechanism for the establishment and orderly planning of the CBD with distinct regulations and standards not provided for under existing laws and ordinances.
