MANILA, Philippines - A member of the Philippine Navy ran amuck and shot his colleague before allegedly committing suicide on Monday.
Petty Officer 2 Edgar Basto, assigned at the Navy’s receiving station, reportedly went to the male transient quarter in Fort Bonifacio and poked his .45 caliber pistol at SN2 Rubel Caalim, then shot Petty Officer 3 Edwin Galla in the back.
He then fled and his body was found on the floor of the male enlisted quarters with a gunshot wound in the head.
Police have yet to determine why Basto ran amuck and if he indeed committed suicide.
