3-year-old girl killed in blaze

MANILA, Philippines - A three-year-old girl died when a fire broke out at a residential area in Malabon City Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Inspector Reynante Batchine, Malabon City Fire Department deputy chief, said Yuche Nocubo’s charred body was found at her room on the second floor of their two-story house in Sitio 6 in Barangay Catmon at around 5:45 p.m.

Batchine said the victim’s mother, Jenelyn, was not in the house when the fire started at around 3:55 p.m. “The victim was alone in her room in the second floor where the fire reportedly started,” he said. He said the fire lasted for almost two hours and destroyed at least 20 houses.
