Doctor, secretary cleared of abortion raps
MANILA, Philippines - An obstetrician-gynecologist and her medical secretary have been cleared of charges of abortion, medical malpractice and attempted infanticide by the Manila prosecutor’s office due to lack of probable cause.
Dr. Maria Fe Tizon and her medical secretary, Desiree Dagami, were arrested and charged by Manila Police District Station 6 police officers after Geraldine Busano posed as a client in an entrapment.
Assistant City Prosecutor Amabel Buenaluz, however, threw out the case over “unexplained irregularities” in the entrapment.
“There appears to be no corroborative witness to substantiate and support the allegations of the complainant… There was no request for dusting of the marked money and nor was there a request for laboratory examination of the secretary of the respondent for the presence of ultraviolet powder,” she said in an April 5, 2011 resolution sent to The STAR Thursday.
