Truck hits bridge barrier in Pasig

- Non Alquitran -

MANILA, Philippines - A truck slammed into a concrete barrier at the Rosario Bridge in Pasig City Saturday, spilling the bags of cement it was carrying and causing a traffic jam in the area.

Traffic enforcer Juancho Callano said the long line of vehicles reached Medical City, which is three kilometers away from the site of the accident.

Truck driver Rolando Zafra said he avoided a car that tried to overtake him and ended up hitting the barrier in the middle of the bridge at around 9 a.m.

The barrier then hit a Toyota Corolla and its driver was hospitalized, Callano said. “The driver was not injured. But he suffered a mild shock and was sent to the hospital for a thorough check-up,” Callano said.

There were two passengers inside the car, and Callano said they, too, were not injured. “They were shocked by the accident but did not bother to have a medical check-up in the hospital,” he added.

Traffic in the area returned to normal several hours later after the bridge was cleared of the bags of cement.
