Rob suspect hurt in Marikina shootout

- Non Alquitran -

MANILA, Philippines - A suspected robber was wounded in an encounter with policemen out to arrest him for robbing three teenagers and trying to rape one of them in Marikina City Saturday.

Alvin Cris Trinanes, 29, sustained a gunshot wound in the right buttock and is under 24-hour guard at the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center.

According to initial reports, two girls – aged 14 and 17 – were about to eat dinner when Trinanes barged into their house on Eustaquio street in Barangay Concepcion Uno at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Trinanes took the girls’ money and cell phones at gunpoint and was about to leave when the third victim, a 19-year-old woman, arrived. The suspect robbed her as well, ordered her to strip then groped her, Police Officer 3 Rodrigo Febreo Jr. said.

The woman fought back when Trinanes was about to rape her. She and the two other victims rushed out of the house, shouting for help.

Trinanes fled with his loot but policemen caught him at his house on Shoe Avenue in the same barangay. Rather than surrender, Trinanes shot at the lawmen and was wounded in the ensuing firefight. He yielded a .38 caliber revolver and his loot.
