Muntinlupa mayor hails guards who foiled Alabang heist

MANILA, Philippines - Muntinlupa Mayor Aldrin San Pedro commended yesterday two security guards who foiled an attempt by three men to rob an armored van at the Alabang Town Center Friday.

“What the security guards did is brave, even heroic, and certainly deserve our admiration,” he said in a statement.

Elmer Tagol of the Gallantry Security Agency died in the shootout while his colleague, Elmo Toreda, is confined at a hospital for gunshot wounds. One of the robbers, Venacio Pioquinto, also died in the shootout.
