Girl dies in Taguig road mishap

MANILA, Philippines - A five-year-old girl died after being hit by a van in Taguig City Wednesday night.

Jenny Robe Iguis of Rodriguez Compound in Ibayo, Sta. Ana was playing at around 7:30 p.m. when Narciso Pergia hit her as he was backing his L-300 van (XAU-113).

A police report said Pergia only learned he hit Iguis after witnesses shouted. The girl was brought to the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital but died while being treated.

Pergia will be charged with homicide due to reckless imprudence, police said.
