2 robbers killed in shootout
MANILA, Philippines - Two suspected robbers were killed in an alleged encounter with members of the Manila Police District (MPD) in Sta. Ana Manila yesterday morning.
In a report to MPD Station 6, Superintendent Remigio Sedanto said the suspects, who were armed with .38 and .22 caliber guns, have not been identified.
A police report said the suspects engaged policemen in a shootout after they reportedly robbed a taxi driver.
Regente Osalla, 36, and resident of 2437 Pasig Line in Sta. Ana was driving a Toyota Avanza (TYK-298) when the suspects flagged him down along Kalentong street in Mandaluyong.
Upon reaching New Panaderos in Sta. Ana, the two male suspects announced a hold-up. They took Osalla’s wallet containing P1,700 in cash and his driver’s license.
The taxi driver reported the incident to the Sta. Ana police.
Recovered from the suspects were two handguns and the complainant’s wallet, money and driver’s license.
