'Bourne' shoot snarls traffic in Marikina

-

MANILA, Philippines - The filming of scenes for the “Bourne Legacy” at the Marikina City market snarled traffic along the Sumulong Highway yesterday.

Emerson Carlos, assistant general manager for operations of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), said traffic was snarled until noon.

Carlos said many vehicles, including passenger jeepneys still passed through the shooting area, despite the MMDA’s advisory to avoid the streets around the market.

“We even had direction signs installed but apparently the drivers did not notice or read them,” he said.

Carlos said the MMDA’s Task Force Bourne would deploy additional traffic enforcers on motorcycles to guide motorists on alternate routes.

He advised motorists to avoid streets around the Marikina City market, which would be closed to traffic from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. until tomorrow.

In a traffic advisory, the MMDA said westbound motorists (those coming from Antipolo to Aurora Boulevard) along Sumulong Highway are advised to make a right at Shoe Avenue, take a left to V. Santos, make a left at J.P. Rizal, and thenmake a right at A. Bonifacio to their destination.

Eastbound (from Aurora Boulevard to Antipolo) motorists along Sumulong Highway are meanwhile advised to make a right turn at J.P Rizal, a left at W. de la Paz, a left turn at Shoe Avenue, then make a right turn at Sumulong Highway to their destination. – Mike Frialde, Non Alquitran
