Villar Foundation aids distressed OFW

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Villar Foundation helped an overseas Filipino worker return to the country from the United Arab Emirates after she fled from an employer who tried to rape her.

Cynthia Villar, the foundation’s managing director, went to the Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration office in Dubai and handed financial assistance and airline tickets to Hasmia Macaalay, who had been staying at the OWWA office since she escaped from her employer more than five months ago.

“We saw so many OFWs in Dubai waiting for help so they can come back home. We have been helping OFWs in various ways. So we are pleased to help Hasmia to finally come home to her family, especially after her tragic experience in the hands of her Arab employer,” said Villar.

The Villar Foundation, in cooperation with the Sagip-OFW helpline of Sen. Manny Villar, has been providing assistance such as repatriation, medical, financial, livelihood to OFWs worldwide.
