Raps filed vs Navotas university hostage-taker

MANILA, Philippines - The Navotas police yesterday filed charges against the hostage-taker in the five-hour hostage drama at the Navotas Polytechnic College (NPC) Wednesday.

Hostage Amy Perez, NPC administrative clerk, said she is not pressing charges against Esmeraldo Yarcia.

Navotas police chief Senior Superintendent Florendo Quibuyen said Yarcia was charged with serious illegal detention, grave threats and alarm and scandal with the city prosecutor’s office.

Quibuyen told The STAR that Perez was released from police custody after undergoing medical tests.
