Porsche-riding Customs clerk placed on floating status

- Evelyn Macairan -

MANILA, Philippines - Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Rufino Biazon has placed on floating status one of their personnel who allegedly beat up a student following a traffic alteration.

Biazon said Paulino Elevado has not reported for work following the incident. “We’ve been trying to get in touch with him,” he said.

“I know the victim personally. I know his parents. They are my church mates in a Christian fellowship,” Biazon said.

Elevado and his companion Florencio Bato are also facing charges of frustrated murder and inflicting physical injuries.

Footage from a closed circuit television camera showed that Elevado, who was driving a white Porsche, chased a Toyota Innova that was being driven by the victim. Elevado and Bato beat the victim and his companion.

The victims were able to escape when Elevado returned to his vehicle to reportedly get his firearm.

The Customs clerk also shot the victim’s car.
