5 suspected robbers nabbed in Pasig
MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested five suspected members of a robbery syndicate, who yielded stolen motorcycles, firearms and illegal drugs during an operation in Pasig City last Thursday.
Senior Superintendent Jesse Cardona, Pasig City police chief, said the suspects were behind the recent spate of robberies involving suspects riding in tandem on motorcycles at the boundary of Pasig City and Marikina City.
The suspects were identified as Robert Joseph Paguia, 38; Mayo Cuartiz, 22; Mark Angelo Eneria, 25; Rodel Macalino, 23; and Rodrigo Pido, 42.
They surrendered a Thompson submachine gun, a caliber .45 pistol, an undetermined amount of shabu and five motorcycles – a black Honda Wave (7018 TT), blue-green Yamaha Mio (8350 TL), black Suzuki Smach (1852 XJ), black and red Suzuki Raider (9847 ZL) and a red RUSI (6612 DJ).
Members of the District Special Operations Unit of the Eastern Police District headed by Senior Inspector Virgilio Timajo were patrolling Barangay de la Paz when they spotted Macalino and Pido at around 7:25 p.m.
A chase ensued when the suspects sped away upon seeing the approaching lawmen.
