Woman slain in predawn robbery

MANILA, Philippines - A robber stabbed dead a woman when she refused to let go of her bag in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City before dawn yesterday.

Virginia Deloviar, 21, was walking home from work when a man tried to grab her handbag. During the struggle for the bag, the robber stabbed her twice in the chest. After the robber fled with her bag, Deloviar started running and shouted for help.

A passing tricycle driver and a bystander brought her to the Malvar General Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
