Probers check cell phones of slain Batangas exec's aides

MANILA, Philippines - Investigators have sent the cellular phones of the close-in aides of Talisay, Batangas Vice Mayor Florencio Manimtim for forensic analysis.

Chief Inspector Joey Goforth, head investigator of Pasay police, said this is part of customary investigation because the two were the last ones seen with Manimtim before he was shot at a Pasay City mall. He added that they “may get clues” from the messages.

Manimtim was shot thrice while walking toward his car at the corner of Harbor Drive and Sunset Avenue in Pasay City last Dec. 19. The gunman then walked to a waiting escape vehicle and sped toward EDSA.
