Employee found dead in UP Diliman campus
MANILA, Philippines - The body of a University of the Philippines employee, believed to have committed suicide, was found in UP’s Diliman, Quezon City campus Wednesday night following an argument with his wife.
Moises Amelito Pancho, a 34-year-old laboratory assistant at the UP College of Engineering, was found with a gunshot wound in the head at the football field behind the Bahay ng Alumni at past 10 p.m. Police said they found an improvised pen gun beside Pancho’s body.
Police Officer 2 Alvin Quizumbing said the body of Pancho was found by security guard Rositilo Holoyohoy, who said he initially thought Pancho was drunk or was a victim of robbery until he noticed blood oozing from the victim’s head.
Pancho’s father, Basilio, said he did not know anyone who would have the motive to kill Moises. He told police that prior to the incident, he heard his son arguing with his wife.
Police have not yet ruled out foul play in the case.
