Lim endorses Isko as next Manila mayor

MANILA, Philippines -  Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim yesterday endorsed Vice Mayor Isko Moreno as the next city mayor when his term ends in 2013.

Lim made the endorsement in his speech during the Christmas gathering for barangay officials of Manila’s second district held at the Century Seafood Restaurant in Manila.

“Why are we getting another (candidate)?” Lim said in Filipino.

He said Moreno, who also came from a poor family, is expected to continue his projects for the poor.

Moreno, meanwhile, expressed hope that those out to sow division between him and the mayor would stop, saying their efforts will just be in vain.

“The city council and myself stand by the mayor and all his programs and we are one with him,” he said.
