MANILA, Philippines - A six-year-old boy from Marikina City became the first firecracker blast victim in Metro Manila for this holiday season. The victim, a certain Benigno, was rushed yesterday to the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center (ARMMC) after his right hand sustained injuries due to a “baby rocket” blast.

ARMMC director Dr. Ricardo Lustre said Benigno, a resident of Tanguile street in Marikina Heights, was rushed to the hospital by his parents at about 12:30 p.m. Lustre sent the victim home after giving him an anti-tetanus shot and first aid treatment.
