Summary execution victim found in Pasig River

MANILA, Philippines - The body of a former convict was found floating in Pasig River under the Del Pan bridge in Port Area, Manila yesterday morning.

Police Officer 3 Amelito Lopez said the victim’s face was wrapped with packaging tapes, while his hands and feet were tied with electrical cord. “From all indications the victim was summarily executed and his body thrown in the Pasig River,” Lopez told The STAR.

Vendor Rosalinda Borlongan, 37, identified the body at the St.Yvan Funeral Homes as that of her partner, Serafin Rodriguez, 39.

Borlongan told Lopez she was told that her partner was picked up by men in a white van while he was sleeping on the sidewalk of C.M. Recto Avenue the night before his body was discovered.

She also told police Rodriguez served time for robbery.
