Court OKs surgery for Ivler
MANILA, Philippines - A Quezon City court has allowed road rage murder suspect Jason Ivler to undergo surgery to reverse his colostomy on condition that he first deposit P500,000 with the court to answer for any unpaid bills following the surgery.
The operation may take up to five hours and the hospital confinement may last up to two weeks, barring any complications.
Judge Luisito Cortez of the Regional Trial Court Branch 84 gave Ivler five days to comply with his condition and submit proof he paid the P17,325 bill for his colonoscopy last Nov. 24.
Cortez also ordered Ivler’s camp to deposit P30,000, representing the fine imposed on Ivler’s mother, Marlene Aguilar, by Judge Bayani Vargas of RTC Branch 219 for contempt. Vargas had handled the case before he inhibited himself and the case was transferred to Cortez’s sala.
