Marikina cops clueless on gym owner's slay

MANILA, Philippines - Police are facing a blank wall in their investigation of the killing of a gym owner in Marikina City Friday.

The Marikina City police admitted they are still gathering evidence and convincing witnesses to help solve the murder of Randy Padua, 39, owner of the Fitness Gym located at Del Pilar street in Barangay Parang.

Padua was talking with close friends in front their house at about 10:30 p.m. Friday when a man shot at them. He died on the spot from gunshot wounds in the head and body. His companion, Bryan Guatno, 39, was hit in the leg and hand and is being treated at the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center.

The gunman walked away and witnesses said he was joined by four companions who acted as lookouts. Investigators recovered 10 shells at the crime scene.

“It appears that the gunman was very mad at the victim because majority of the bullets hit his face and head,” a policeman said.

Investigators are checking Padua’s background to determine whether he has any known enemies.
